Rain or Shine: Keep Your E-Bike Commute Smooth & Safe

For e-bike commuters, rainy days pose challenges, but this guide offers key hacks: pre-ride checks, safe riding tactics, and post-ride maintenance. Stay dry, visible, and in control.

In the wave of urban commuting, e-bikes have become the favorite of more and more people with their labor-saving, efficient, flexible and convenient characteristics. However, when the rainy season comes, how to ensure riding safety and vehicle performance? Please keep this guide!

Pre-Ride Checklist: Ensure Your E-Bike is Rain-Ready

  1. The brake system is the key:Disc brakes are stable in rainy days, and disc brakes need to focus on checking sensitivity. It is recommended to reduce the tire pressure by 5%-10% to enhance grip and check the wear of the pattern. The front and rear lights are adjusted to flashing mode, the core components must be waterproof to IPX5 or above, and check whether the wires and interfaces are sealed.
  2. Wearing equipment:Assault jackets and split raincoats are waterproof and breathable; non-slip gloves are selected with palm grains; helmets are equipped with anti-fog lenses or brims; bright reflective clothing improves visibility, and umbrellas are prohibited.
  3. Protect electronic devices:Wrap mobile phones and dashboards tightly with waterproof cases or plastic bags to avoid water ingress and short circuits.

Safe Riding Techniques: Navigating Wet Roads on E-Bike

  1. Control speed:Adjust the power-assisted gear to a speed of no more than 20 km/h, and brake lightly 10-15 meters in advance when going downhill or turning.
  2. Avoid dangerous sections:Get off and push the bike when the water is higher than the motor; be vigilant when passing through manhole covers and zebra crossings; keep a straight line and drive slowly in muddy and leafy sections.
  3. Maintain a stable posture:Hold the handlebars with both hands and move the center of gravity backward, avoid holding the handlebars with one hand, and stop riding when the wind and rain are too strong.

Maintenance after riding: Extend the service life of E-Bike

Dry the body, chain, and brake disc in time, and remove foreign matter from the tires; dry the battery interface before charging, and send the motor for repair if it is abnormal; rain washes away the lubricating oil, and waterproof chain oil is needed for re-maintenance.

Other reminders

Stay away from high places and metal objects during thunderstorms; turn on the lights and ring the bell when visibility is low; reduce the load on rainy days to keep the body balanced.

By following these rainy-day e-bike safety tips, you can commute confidently even in the heaviest downpours.
